The incident took place in mid-October when Prof Sujit Kumar was allegedly confronted and slapped by Deepika Jha during an argument related to student administrative procedures. Following the incident, the university had formed a committee to investigate the matter.

However, despite reports suggesting that Jha has been suspended from her post for two months, Prof Kumar said he has not been informed of any such action.

Speaking to The Tribune, Prof Kumar said, “I don’t have any information about the suspension of joint secretary Deepika Jha. No official order has been released till now and the committee formed by the university hasn’t concluded any decision, it’s been one month.”

He further added that if the university had indeed suspended her, he should have been formally notified.

So far, Delhi University has not issued any public statement on the status of the inquiry or the alleged suspension.
