New Delhi, August 8

A delegation from the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), led by DPCC president Devender Yadav, met Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena at Raj Niwas on Thursday to discuss several pressing issues affecting the residents of Delhi.

The meeting focused on impending demolition of dairies in Bhalswa to recent deaths caused by waterlogging and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s alleged negligence.

Yadav, speaking after the meeting, said, “The L-G patiently listened to our concerns and assured us of positive action on the issues raised.” The delegation submitted a memorandum detailing their demands and urging immediate intervention.

One of the primary concerns discussed was the demolition of dairies in Bhalswa and other areas. A recent High Court order had mandated the relocation of these dairies and the demolition of unauthorised constructions. “The dairy owners are willing to shift their cattle to another location, but they need alternate sites if the current structures are demolished. We requested the L-G to take a sympathetic view of this matter,” Yadav said.

The delegation also raised the issue of deaths caused by waterlogging in Rajinder Nagar, where three Civil Services students lost their lives, as well as the tragic death of a mother and child in Ghazipur due to the alleged neglect by the MCD.

“The probe into the Rajinder Nagar tragedy should not be limited to that area. It should be expanded to other affected areas to ensure accountability,” he added.

Saxena, according to Yadav, promised to take a “sympathetic view” of the issues related to the Bhalswa dairies and expedite the investigation into the Rajinder Nagar and Ghazipur deaths.
