Cong remembers Nehru’s legacy on death anniversary

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav on Tuesday led party leaders and workers in paying homage to India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 61st death anniversary. Floral tributes were offered at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, and earlier at Shanti Van, Nehru’s samadhi, where Yadav paid his respects in the morning.

Calling Nehru the “architect of modern India,” Yadav highlighted his foundational contributions in shaping a scientific and self-reliant nation after Independence. “With his visionary thinking and planning, Nehru established institutions that have made India one of the strongest and most progressive nations in the world,” he said.

Yadav credited Nehru with laying the groundwork for India’s advancement by establishing landmark institutions such as AIIMS, IITs, IIMs, ISRO, major steel plants like Bokaro and Rourkela and large-scale projects like the Bhakra Nangal Dam. “It is due to his foresight that India today is not just developing rapidly, but Indians are leading global corporations and contributing to a growing economy,” he added.

Among the senior leaders present at Rajiv Bhawan were AICC Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin, former MLA Anil Bhardwaj, administration in-charge Jatin Sharma, several district presidents and representatives from various Congress departments, including the Sewa Dal and Delhi Women’s Congress.
