Cops implicating me in false case, says Amanatullah Khan
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Okhla, Amanatullah Khan, on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner in response to a recent search operation against him. The operation was conducted in connection with a case alleging that Khan and his supporters obstructed a police team from the crime branch during an attempt to arrest a proclaimed offender.
The Delhi Police had claimed that Khan and his supporters interfered with the raiding team, obstructing their efforts. However, Khan refuted the allegations, stating that the individual in question had been granted bail. In his letter, Khan emphasised that he was not in hiding, but instead in his Assembly constituency, and accused the police of falsely implicating him to cover up their mistake.
“The person whom Delhi Police had come to arrest is on bail. The police are implicating me in a false case to hide their mistake when he showed the papers,” Khan said.
The Jamia Nagar Police, in collaboration with the Crime Branch and Special Cell units, had launched a search operation across Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
DCP (South East) Ravi Kumar Singh said he had not received any such letter from Khan. “I have not received any such letter. Investigation is underway, and we are trying to track him. We have not been able to establish any communication with him so far,” Singh said.
According to sources, a successful arrest was made of Shahbaz Khan (PO), but during the arrest, Khan allegedly intervened, questioning the legitimacy of the action and insisting on the suspect’s innocence. This led to a heated exchange between the MLA and the officers, and amid the commotion, the accused managed to escape.
