BJP MP from South Delhi Ramvir Singh Bidhuri has sharply criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for what he called the “corrupt governance” that has led to the depletion of Delhi’s treasury.
Bidhuri alleged that in its final days, the AAP government was forced to seek a loan of Rs 10,000 crore from the Central Government to pay salaries to Delhi Government employees. He claimed that the situation undermined the economic development claims made by the AAP’s acting Chief Minister Atishi.
Bidhuri described the boast of economic progress by Atishi as the “biggest lie” and blamed the AAP for bringing Delhi to a state of financial instability, pointing to what he referred to as “crore-level scams” that had drained the city’s resources.
According to Bidhuri, Atishi is well aware of the financial mismanagement and corruption within the AAP government. He stated that she was fully cognisant of the economic difficulties that the next government would face due to the state of Delhi’s finances. He further remarked that Atishi’s admission of the treasury’s dire condition showed the government’s failure to manage funds properly.
He also mocked Atishi’s position, comparing her to someone who had “looted” the treasury and then tried to avoid responsibility by accusing others. “Atishi can be compared to a person who has himself looted the treasury of Delhi and is then trying to escape from the spot shouting ‘thief-thief’,” said Bidhuri.
Bidhuri went on to list several allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption under the AAP government, including the Delhi Jal Board’s Rs 75,000-crore loss, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) losing over Rs 2,500 crore annually, and the misuse of Rs 8,500 crore allocated by the Centre for cleaning the Yamuna. He also highlighted the Rs 2,000 crore liquor scam, the Rs 1,300 crore education scam, the Rs 500 crore panic button scam, and the alleged 65,000 fake tests conducted under the ‘Mohalla Clinic’ scheme.
Furthermore, Bidhuri pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement to present the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report in the first session of the Delhi Assembly would expose additional corruption and mismanagement by the AAP government.
“Let Atishi worry about saving her party now,” Bidhuri concluded, asserting that the BJP would focus on fulfilling its promises to the people of Delhi. He assured that under a new BJP government, major promises would be announced in the first Cabinet meeting and necessary funds would be arranged.
