Couple among three held with over 1-kg heroin

The Outer North District police arrested three drug peddlers and seized over 1 kg of heroin worth around Rs 4 crore in the international market from them, they said on Sunday.

The anti-narcotics cell apprehended a woman, Afsana (23), from Kalandra Colony, Bhalswa Dairy, on August 29 and recovered 300 grams of heroin from her possession, said DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami.

During interrogation, she disclosed the identities of other suppliers - Narender (37) and his wife Jyoti, alias Manshi (35).

After getting information, the police conducted a raid at their residence in Burari and arrested them. During the raid, the police recovered 712 gm of heroin from their house. A two-wheeler used in their crime was also seized.

The police said a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused at the Bhalswa Dairy police station.

The accused had no criminal record. Further investigation was on to trace the source of the drug, the DCP added.
