Day after release, Kejriwal visits temple, seeks blessings for nation
A day after his release from Tihar Jail, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spent a busy Saturday participating in religious and political activities.
After five months in custody, Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener, made his first public appearance at the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, seeking blessings for the wellbeing of the nation.
Accompanied by his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, the Chief Minister was welcomed by the temple’s mahant with a ceremonial tilak, Bajrang Bali’s mace and a sacred triangular flag.
Following this, Kejriwal meditated and offered water to the ‘Shivling’. Senior party leaders Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj accompanied him.
Sharing his visit on social media, Kejriwal tweeted, “Today, along with my wife Sunita Kejriwal and other companions, I visited the ancient Hanuman temple in Connaught Place. In this fight against injustice, Lord Hanuman’s blessings have always been with us. I prayed to the Lord for everyone’s happiness and prosperity.”
The AAP’s official social media account also highlighted the visit, stating, “CM Arvind Kejriwal, who came out of jail after fighting a fake case and dictatorship, prayed for the peace and happiness of the people of the country by worshipping Anjani Putra Hanuman Ji and Lord Bholenath Ji.”
Quoting a couplet from the Hanuman Chalisa, Sisodia wrote, “It is the grace of Hanuman ji, due to which, despite all the conspiracies, Kejriwal and all of us are among you all. May Lord Bajrangbali keep his blessings on all Delhi residents.”
Later in the day, Kejriwal convened a meeting of senior AAP leaders to discuss campaign strategies for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. AAP leader Sandeep Pathak said, “Campaign plans for each Assembly seat have been drawn up. In the coming times, an extensive campaign will be launched.”
The meeting was held at Sisodia’s residence, where discussions centred on AAP’s strategy for Haryana. Following this, Kejriwal, along with AAP leaders visited Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s residence.
