The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to enhance the appeal of the Sanjay Lake complex in Trilokpuri as it opened an e-auction for a restaurant within the premises on licence fee basis.

According to officials, the restaurant will be built over 535 sq m with an additional 800 sq m designated for outdoor seating. A private agency will operate the facility under a three-year licence, extendable by two further three-year terms based on performance. The restaurant will serve a wide range of food, including snacks, bakery items and beverages.

Spread across 69 hectares, the Sanjay Lake complex is one of East Delhi’s largest green spaces, featuring a 17-hectare artificial lake, gardens, walking tracks, boating facilities and a children’s play area.

Formed in 1970 by the backflow of the Yamuna and Hindon rivers, the lake has long been a popular leisure destination but lacked quality dining options. DDA officials said the new restaurant would fill this gap, serving not just as an eatery but also as a community hub to enhance the complex’s overall appeal.

The agency operating the restaurant will also be responsible for maintaining public amenities, including toilets and the children’s play area. The lake remains open on all days from 6 am to 6 pm and is well connected by Delhi Metro’s Pink line at the Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake Station.
