Delhi BJP chief raises questions on allocation of CM’s bungalow
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday posed a series of questions to Chief Minister Atishi regarding the official residence allocation and alleged misuse of government property by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.
Sachdeva, who was accompanied by party workers and journalists, visited the bungalow at 17 AB Mathura Road near the Supreme Court that he claims has been allocated to Atishi.
Addressing mediapersons, Sachdeva questioned why CM Atishi had not utilised the bungalow allocated to her and, instead, allowed political associates to occupy it. He expressed concern over what he called the mismanagement and misuse of government resources, stating that the bungalow remained unoccupied by the CM herself.
“Atishi, please clarify to whom the bungalow at 17 AB Mathura Road has been allocated?” Sachdeva asked. “Isn’t it true that former CM Sheila Dikshit used this same bungalow to run the government from 1998 to 2004? If that is the case, why can’t Atishi do the same?”
Sachdeva further questioned the rationale behind not designating the bungalow at 6 Flag Staff Road as the official residence of the CM during the tenure of Arvind Kejriwal from 2015 to 2024.
“Why wasn’t 6 Flag Staff Road declared the official CM’s residence during Kejriwal’s term?” he demanded.
The BJP leader also sought clarity on the current occupant of the bungalow, pressing the CM to reveal who was living in the official accommodation allocated to her.
During his remarks, Sachdeva strongly criticised the AAP leadership, accusing them of engaging in “petty political tactics” to deflect from their own issues. He particularly pointed to the AAP leaders raising questions about the construction at the Prime Minister’s residence. Sachdeva asserted that the PM’s residence was an official accommodation with the construction and renovation processes carried out transparently, unlike the alleged irregularities at 6 Flag Staff Road — the residence of Delhi’s former CM.
“The PM’s residence is an official property, where the construction has been done with full transparency. On the other hand, the Kejriwal government has been involved in unauthorised construction at the bungalow on 6 Flag Staff
Road, breaking all rules,” Sachdeva stated.
