The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved a series of key proposals on Tuesday during its eighth meeting, held at the Delhi Secretariat.

One of the major decisions was the approval of The Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Ordinance, 2025, which seeks to check arbitrary fee hikes by private schools.

The ordinance will come into effect after receiving the President’s assent and is expected to benefit thousands of families by ensuring accountability in fee structures and providing a grievance redressal mechanism for parents.

The ordinance mandates schools to seek government approval before raising fees, and lays down procedures to prevent discrimination and arbitrary charges. Once implemented, it is expected to come into effect from the 2025-26 academic session. The Cabinet also approved the Viksit Delhi Chief Minister Internship Programme.

Under the programme, 150 selected interns will work across various departments — Health, Education, Transport, Environment and Administrative Reforms — of the Delhi Government for 89 days.

The selection of interns will be conducted by Delhi University — the nodal agency for the process. The programme is designed to provide analytical support in policymaking and project implementation.

The Cabinet also approved the deployment of 100 interns at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Delhi, for a one-year internship. The programme aims to train qualified students from Delhi-based universities in specialised fields such as forensic biology, DNA analysis, cyber forensics, fingerprint examination and crime scene investigation.

The Chief Minister said, “All our efforts are inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. We are committed to ensuring a transparent, smart, and citizen-friendly governance model in Delhi.”
