Security arrangements for MPs, Chief Ministers and other dignitaries are provided as per the guidelines laid down in the ‘Yellow Book’, primarily based on the comprehensive assessment of threats carried out by the security agencies.

The Delhi Police have already increased security outside the residence of the Chief Minister in Shalimar Bagh from where she was elected as the legislator after winning the Assembly poll.

“Z” category security includes a detail of 22 personnel, including 4-6 CAPF commandos (ITPB and CRPF) and Delhi Police personnel. Gupta will be guarded round the clock by three personal security officers (PSOs), who will work in 8-9 hour shifts, rotating their duties.

Under the security cover, Gupta will have a convoy of five vehicles with at least one bullet-proof car in which the CM will travel.

Earlier, former chief minister Atishi was also given ‘Z’ category security by the Delhi Police on the directions of the MHA. During her 15-year tenure, former Congress CM Sheila Dikshit also had ‘Z’ category security.

Meanwhile, the AAP convener still has “Z+” security cover with a comprehensive protection detail comprising 63 personnel, including a pilot, escort teams, close protection staff and search-and-frisk units. The security cover was provided to him based on the threat perception.
