Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched a two-day training programme for Tehsildars and Sub-Registrars, emphasising the conduct of officers with the public defines the true identity of the government. The training, organised by the Revenue Department at the UTCS Auditorium in Vishwas Nagar, is the first such initiative in the Capital.

Gupta said the Delhi Government is committed to strengthening digitisation, improving transparency, modernising offices and taking firm action against corruption so citizens may access revenue services without fear, bias or undue difficulty.

“Government offices are meant to serve the people. The behaviour of officers with the public is the real face of the government,” Gupta said, urging officers to bring energy, discipline and empathy to their roles.

She noted unlike some states Delhi does not have an ex-cadre system for revenue officials, making such training crucial for new appointees. The programme, she said, would help officers better understand the complexities of their roles, while also simplifying processes for citizens and ensuring clean, corruption-free administration.

The Chief Minister also flagged persistent challenges including the interference of middlemen, fake documents, irregularities in stamp duty, and heavy workloads, stressing officers must address these issues urgently to maintain public trust.

Additional Chief Secretary Bipul Pathak, Divisional Commissioner Neeraj Semwal, district magistrates, and other senior officials attended the inaugural session.

Gupta expressed confidence the training would help officers adopt modern administrative practices and uphold honesty, transparency and teamwork — values she said were key to building a positive and credible image for the Delhi Government.
