Delhi Cong chief extends support to new government
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav extended his full support to newly-appointed Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, wishing her success in her efforts to restore the city to its former glory.
Yadav emphasised that Gupta has a powerful role model in late Sheila Dikshit, whose tenure as the Chief Minister transformed Delhi into a clean, green and world-class city.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav highlighted that the Delhi Congress would provide full cooperation to the new government, especially if it focuses on repairing the significant damage done to Delhi’s civic infrastructure under the previous AAP government.
Yadav accused the former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of corruption, claiming that he came to power “as a pauper” but left after allegedly swindling taxpayers’ money.
“Delhi faces a daunting task ahead not only in fixing the crumbling infrastructure but also addressing severe water and air pollution,” Yadav said.
He further called on the new government to fulfil its election promises and ensure accountability for those involved in scandals, including the liquor scam.
Yadav assured that the Delhi Congress would offer constructive suggestions and support the Gupta government in its effort to bring the city back to its former state, promising no hindrance to governance.
He said the “double engine” government should prioritise development and hold accountable those who had corrupted the system in the city.
