Cops douse the fire that broke out in a car in South-East Delhi.

A woman and her five-year-old child had a narrow escape after the car they were travelling in caught fire at a red light near the busy Tara Apartment crossing in South-East Delhi here this evening.

However, a prompt action by Delhi Police personnel saved the life of the 38-year-old woman and her child, officials said on Friday.

The incident took place around 5:37 pm on Thursday when a Mercedes car suddenly caught fire while waiting for signal to turn green at Govindpuri.

After receiving a distress call, a team led by ASI Ratan Lal Meena, along with constable Rahul and traffic personnel, rushed to the spot. The team barehanded rescued the woman and her son from the car before firefighters arrived.

As the fire intensified, the team immediately called for a Delhi Jal Board water tanker and worked together to extinguish the blaze. Their quick action not only saved two lives but also prevented a larger accident in the crowded area.
