Delhi: Demanding formation of governing body, Punjabi Academy teachers meet Sirsa
The teachers of Punjabi Academy in Delhi met minister Manjinder Sirsa to put forth their demand of constituting a governing body immediately so that Punjabi language teaching
centres can be started again in the city.
The minister assured the teachers that requisite steps would soon be taken in this direction.
The teachers expressed their concerns and emphasised the need for policy changes to strengthen Punjabi language
education and cultural preservation.
Several teachers have been nominated to promote the Punjabi language in Delhi’s Singh Sabha gurdwaras and other institutions who are paid salaries by the Punjabi Academy.
However, for the past one year, they had been facing a lot of problems as the governing body of the Punjabi Academy had not been formed, following which they have now put forth their demand to get a body constituted.
