The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has enhanced the budget for Phase IV of Delhi Metro, six-laned expressway from Alipur to Delhi Gurgaon expressway and several other projects.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, also the Chairperson of the DDA, recently chaired a meeting where the annual budget for 2024-25 was approved with an outlay of Rs 8,811 crore. This allocation aligns with the Union Government’s emphasis, with approximately 61 per cent of the funds allocated for capital expenditure.

The construction of UER-II (Urban Extension Road-II), a Rs 6,421 crore project for the Delhi portion, is nearing completion. The budget for this project has been increased from Rs 920 crore to Rs 1,590 crore for 2023-24, with a provision of Rs 400 crore for completion in the 2024-25 budget.

Similarly, the budget for Phase IV of Delhi Metro project has been enhanced to Rs 390 crore for 2023-24, with a provision of Rs 275 crore in the 2024-25 budget.

The overall receipts of DDA have witnessed a significant increase of 75 per cent in the current financial year, reaching Rs 7,696 crore compared to Rs 4,392 crore in the previous year. The DDA aims for revenue targets of Rs 9,182 crores for the next year, marking a nearly 19 per cent increase from the current year.

Developmental activities undertaken by the DDA in the current financial year have amounted to Rs 8,804 crore, a nearly 69 per cent increase over the previous year’s Rs 5,189 crore. The DDA plans to maintain expenditure at the same level as the current year for the next year.

The General Development Account (GDA) of DDA is expected to be in surplus for the first time in 10 years, with a surplus of Rs 262 crore in the revised budget of 2023-24 and Rs 2145 crore in the budgeted estimates of 2024-25.

Allocation of Rs 3,460 crore has been made for the development of land and physical infrastructure. Provisions of Rs 100 crore and Rs 20 crore have been made for the construction of a road connecting SAARC University and CAPFIMS in Maidan Garhi with Chhatarpur road. Two multilevel car parking projects are also in progress with a provision of Rs 70 crore in the 2024-25 budget estimates.

Additionally, provisions of Rs 600 crore and Rs 300 crore have been made in the budget estimates of 2024-25 and revised estimates of 2023-24, respectively. A construction project for Bharat Vandana Park in Sector 20, Dwarka, has been allocated Rs 150 crore. Furthermore, re-development plans for Dilli Chalo Park, Ghata Masjid Park, Sadhbhavna Park, and Urdu Academy Park behind the Red Fort are underway. A budget of Rs 37 crore has been allocated for the construction of these projects.
