In a bid to boost cultural preservation and promote tourism, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the launch of a ‘Tourism and Heritage Fellowship Programme’ aimed at empowering young individuals to contribute to the city’s heritage and tourism sectors.

Under the initiative, 40 fellows will be selected annually and awarded a monthly stipend of Rs 50,000 for a one-year tenure. The programme will be implemented by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and aligns with the Centre’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, focusing on enhancing domestic capabilities and reducing dependence on external consultants.

“This is a powerful medium for Delhi’s youth to engage with their heritage and become agents of change. We want to position Delhi as a vibrant, inclusive, and world-class tourism destination,” said CM Gupta.

Fellows will assist with heritage walks, guided tours, digital content creation, tourism marketing, event management, and operations at sites such as Delhi Haat and Garden of Five Senses. They will also contribute to film shoot coordination and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) activities.

Applicants must be under 35 years, hold at least a graduate degree, and have one year of formal experience in tourism or related sectors. Proficiency in Hindi, English, and digital tools is mandatory.

Upon successful completion, fellows will receive a certificate from the Delhi Government.
