On the occasion of Kabir Jayanti, the Delhi Government on Wednesday paid tribute to the 15th-century saint-poet Sant Kabir, whose teachings of equality, compassion and social reform continue to resonate across generations.

The event, held for the first time at the Delhi Secretariat, was organised by the Department of SC/ST/OBC Welfare and saw participation from officials, artists and the general public.

Cabinet Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh was the chief guest at the event. He said Sant Kabir’s message remained a guiding light for inclusive governance. He added, “We are dedicated to ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes, particularly those meant for SCs, STs and OBCs, reach the most deprived sections of society.”

Reflecting on Sant Kabir’s teachings, the minister noted that the mystic poet challenged divisions based on caste and religion and advocated for equality and fraternity. “Kabir taught us that a person’s true worth lies in their conduct and values—not their caste, religion or social background,” he said.

The event featured soulful devotional songs and cultural performances by artists who brought Kabir’s dohas (couplets) to life through music and poetry. These performances added a spiritual and reflective dimension to the occasion, drawing praise from attendees.
