Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood on Friday informed that the government has released Rs 1,668.41 crore as the second instalment of financial aid to the local bodies in the national capital.
As per the government communication, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been allotted Rs 1,641.13 crore, Rs 16.18 crore for the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Rs 11.09 crore for the Delhi Cantonment Board.
The minister further informed that the first instalment of Rs 835 crore was released in June.
“With the current release, the government reiterates its commitment to provide robust financial support to local bodies, enabling them to improve infrastructure, sanitation and other civic amenities for the residents of Delhi,” Sood added. Criticising the AAP regime, the minister alleged that the previous government failed to release funds to the MCD on time due to ulterior motive, which affected the execution in essential works for the people of the city.
The Delhi Government, under the leadership of CM Rekha Gupta, is committed to ensuring that all basic civic amenities are provided to citizens without delay, he said.
