Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated a newly constructed District Social Welfare Office (North-West–I & II) in Indra Nagar, opposite Azadpur Mandi, extending access to essential welfare services across 15 Assembly constituencies. The Chief Minister said the modern facility reflects her government’s commitment to ensuring that every needy, deprived, and vulnerable citizen receives timely support without obstacles.

The new building replaces the cramped premises in a Rohini school where the department had operated for several years. It is equipped with upgraded public service counters, a dedicated help desk, and improved amenities designed to simplify service delivery for pensioners, students, and beneficiaries of various government schemes.

Speaking at the inauguration, Gupta said the office would provide a range of services, including old-age, widow, and disability pensions, scholarship programmes, handloom and handicraft assistance, and other grant schemes — all under one roof. “Our governance model is founded on social justice. No citizen of Delhi should be denied access to welfare benefits,” she stated.

Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, MLA Rajkumar Bhatia, and other dignitaries were present at the event. Singh noted that the new building, constructed at a cost of Rs 2.14 crore, will significantly reduce the difficulties previously faced by beneficiaries due to inadequate space and infrastructure. “With two dedicated district offices now operational, people will finally benefit from proper facilities and faster service delivery,” he said.

The new district office will cater to constituencies including Rithala, Mundka, Kirari, Sultanpur Majra, Mangolpuri, Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Shakur Basti, Tri Nagar, Narela, Burari, Adarsh Nagar, Bawana, Badli, and Model Town.

According to officials, the office will oversee the implementation of major welfare schemes through the e-District Portal. Designated officers will review and verify applications, determine eligibility, and approve benefits, which will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
