Delhi L-G approves revival of 1,027 vice-principal posts in Delhi
New Delhi, February 12
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Monday approved the revival of 1,027 posts of vice-principal in the Directorate of Education, GNCTD, for the vacancy years 2014-15 to 2019.
The move is aimed at ending adhocism and contractual appointments, often marred by lack of transparency and favouritism, an official said.
The L-G office said these posts would have been abolished for not being filled in the prescribed time limit. The revival of these posts was necessary as there was an acute shortage of vice-principal, who are essential for the smooth functioning of schools, another official said.
As per earlier Recruitment Rules (RRs), 100 per cent posts of vice-principals were supposed to be filled in through promotion and these RRs were amended through a notification in January 2018.
An official said: “The Union Ministry of Finance provides that posts except newly created posts, kept in abeyance or remaining vacant for a period of more than two years, would be considered as deemed abolished.”
