The CBI registered a case against the SI on Tuesday based on a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for not arresting the complainant’s cousin and also helping him to secure anticipatory bail. After negotiation, the SI agreed to accept the bribe of Rs 40,000.

A trap was laid and the SI was caught red-handed while accepting the money, an official said. The official said further investigation was on in the case.
