As per the Election Commission trends, Bisht is leading by a massive margin of more than 40,000 votes.

Bisht was the current MLA from Karawal Nagar but he was replaced by Kapil Mishra following which the party even received a backlash, however it released another list with his name from Mustafabad segment.

The constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.

The Congress bagged the seat twice in 2008 and 2013. In the initial election, Congress’ Hasan Ahmed defeated BJP’s Yogender Kumar Sharma by a miniscule margin of 979 votes.

In 2013, Hasan defeated saffron party’s Jagdish Pradhan by less than 2,000 votes. However, he was defeated by Pradhan in the next elections in 2015.

The Congress and BJP’s dominance in the area came to end with the wave of AAP in 2019, when its candidate defeated Pradhan and Hasan’s son Ali Mahndi.

This time, the AAP fielded Arvind Kejriwal’s close-confidant Adil Ahmad Khan, while the Congress fielded Ali Mahndi against BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht. Even, AIMIM made an entry in the polls and fielded former AAP councillor and 2020 Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain from the seat.

As per latest trends, Bisht is leading the race with 42,069 votes, followed by AAP's Adil Ahmad Khan, who is trailing at 27,239 and Tahir Hussain at third spot with 6676 votes so far.
