In a significant move towards embracing new technology for improved governance, the Delhi Legislative Assembly has decided to adopt the Central Government’s Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS) for better oversight of audit paragraphs raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

Announcing the development, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said the decision was taken following a high-level meeting held on April 11.

Gupta has directed Ashish Chandra Verma, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Delhi, to implement the APMS model to streamline the monitoring and resolution of audit objections.

Verma had earlier written to Parma Sen, Additional Secretary, Union Finance Ministry, seeking approval for Delhi to use the Centre’s APMS until its own system is developed. In her response, Sen gave the go-ahead, paving the way for the transition.

The initiative gained momentum with the active support of Delhi’s Accountant General, Roli Shukla Malge, whose efforts facilitated consensus between the Central and Delhi governments.

Speaker Gupta also attended a detailed presentation on the APMS by officials from the Controller General of Accounts, who outlined the software’s features and its role in effective audit tracking and resolution.

Given the upcoming meetings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Gupta has urged departments concerned to expedite the system’s rollout and ensure smooth coordination for its timely implementation.
