Delhi’s AQI at 202, Sirsa calls it outcome of coordinated effort

As Delhi recorded an AQI of 202 on Wednesday, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that this is the result of disciplined, data-based effort by the government.

He said that over 500 inspections occurred in the last 24 hours by teams from DPCC, MCD, NDMC, DCB, PWD, DJB, Revenue, DSIIDC, and DMRC.

More than 9,000 pollution challans were issued during enforcement drives, the minister said hailing ‘coordinated civic effort.’ The AQI of 202 compares to 373 in 2024, 454 in 2023, 381 in 2022, 462 in 2021, 450 in 2020, and 324 in 2019.

According to the minister, the inspections covered 387 construction and demolition sites, 79 municipal solid waste sites, 22 DG sets, and 12 hotels and restaurants.
