Denied ‘pay hike’, Delhi man burgles own workplace
Enraged after being denied “salary hike”, a 20-year-old man committed burglary at his own workplace. The accused stole Rs 6 lakh in cash and other expensive items from his workplace, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Hasan Khan, was later arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said Rs 6 lakh in cash and other electronics items were stolen from a two-wheeler showroom here on December 31.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and formed a team to investigate the matter.
During investigation, the police conducted technical surveillance, analysing over 100 CCTV cameras, and interrogated the showroom staff. They identified one employee, namely Hasan Khan, as a suspect.
“We apprehended Hasan. During inquiry, cash worth around Rs 5 lakh and two expensive cameras were recovered at his instance,” the DCP said.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused, a technical expert, had intentionally turned off the lights of the showroom on the day of the incident to avoid being identified and also wore a helmet.
“His dissatisfaction with the management’s refusal to increase his pay led him to plan and commit the burglary,” the DCP said.
