Deputy Mayor reviews preparation for Chhath Puja in Rithala, Rohini

Directs officials to lift garbage from vulnerable points twice a day

Delhi Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav on Thursday inspected several wards of the Rithala and Rohini segment to review sanitation conditions and preparations for the upcoming Chhath Mahaparva (Chhath Puja).

The inspection covered Ward No. 21 and 22 in Rithala and Ward No. 54 in Rohini. Deputy chairman of Rohini ward committee Narender Solanki, councillor Samita Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Rohini Zone, along with officials and employees of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), accompanied the Deputy Mayor during the visit.

Yadav expressed unhappiness over the sanitation conditions in certain areas and directed officials to lift garbage from vulnerable points at least twice daily. He emphasised that “no citizen should face inconvenience due to poor sanitation and that strict monitoring of cleanliness should be carried out across all wards”.

As part of his visit, the Deputy Mayor also inspected various Chhath ghats to assess the ongoing preparations for the festival. He reviewed arrangements related to cleanliness, electricity, lighting and the smooth movement of devotees.

“Under the direction of the Chief Minister, we will leave no stone unturned to ensure the grand and smooth organisation of Chhath Puja in Delhi. All officials have been instructed to make proper arrangements for cleanliness, lighting and other essential facilities around the Chhath ghats,” said Yadav.

He reaffirmed the MCD’s commitment to maintaining high standards of sanitation and public convenience during the festive period and urged citizens to cooperate in keeping their surroundings clean.
