DMRC launches priority frisking for special category passengers
In a move to make Metro travel more inclusive and commuter friendly, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has launched a priority frisking facility at all metro stations for special category passengers.
The initiative will benefit divyangjans, pregnant women, women with infants, senior citizens and injured persons by enabling them to pass through security checks with greater ease and reduced waiting time.
Highlighting the importance of accessible transport, DMRC officials said the step reinforces the corporation’s commitment to providing a smooth and hassle-free experience for all sections of society. The facility will be implemented with the help of the CISF, and security personnel may ask for relevant documentation in case of any doubt over eligibility.
The DMRC already provides several accessibility features across its network, including reserved seating, tactile pathways, wheelchairs and other assistive services.
Officials said the new frisking protocol was part of the ongoing efforts to ensure a more inclusive travel environment and set a benchmark for public transportation systems across India.
