Does RSS support BJP distributing cash for votes: Kejri to Bhagwat
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday wrote a letter to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, questioning the Sangh’s stance on alleged distribution of money among voters and deletion of names of Purvanchali and Dalit voters by the BJP ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections in February.
In his letter, Kejriwal sought clarity on reports that the RSS would campaign for the BJP in the upcoming polls. “Does the RSS endorse vote-buying and voter suppression?” he asked.
He raised several questions in his letter dated December 30, asking if the RSS supports money being “openly distributed” by BJP leaders to “buy” votes and “large-scale” deletion of names of voters.
Kejriwal further wrote that these actions could severely weaken Indian democracy and urged Bhagwat to reflect on whether the RSS should support such behaviour. “Don’t you think that the BJP is weakening Indian democracy with such behaviour?” he asked.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva dismissed the letter as a sign of Kejriwal’s “political frustration” and accused him of using distractions to cover up his government’s failures. Sachdeva countered with allegations against Kejriwal, including accepting funds from “dubious entities in Canada”, enrolling illegal voters from Bangladesh and issuing arbitrary directives.
