Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh Lovely lauded the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on electoral bonds and termed it as a validation of the Congress’s long-standing concerns.

The apex court had recently declared the electoral bonds scheme, introduced by the BJP government in 2017, as illegal. Lovely emphasised that the DPCC had criticised the lack of transparency in the electoral bonds scheme since its inception. He said the party had highlighted its potential to disproportionately benefit the ruling BJP by allowing anonymous and substantial donations from corporate entities.

He said, “The BJP became the richest party in the country by taking maximum benefit from the electoral bond system. Voter has the right to access information regarding political funding.”
