Driver hurt as car falls off Mukarba Chowk flyover, lands on railway tracks
A 35-year-old man from Ghaziabad had a miraculous escape after his car fell from the Mukarba Chowk flyover and landed on the railway tracks beneath the Outer Ring Road, opposite the Haiderpur Badli Metro station in Rohini, the police said on Sunday.
The driver, identified as Sachin Chaudhary, a resident of Pratap Vihar Railway Colony in Ghaziabad, UP, sustained minor injuries.
The police received information about the incident in the wee hours of Sunday. After getting information, a team from the Samaypur Badli police station reached the spot and found the car overturned on the railway tracks beneath the Ring Road.
The damaged vehicle was removed from the railway track within no time and no train movement was affected due to the accident, an official added.
Chaudhary told the cops that while he was travelling from Peera Garhi to Ghaziabad, he lost control of the car. The vehicle hit the pavement, toppled over the railing, rolled down a slope and landed upside down on the tracks.
“The driver is undergoing medical examination. No other injuries were reported,” the official said.
The police also found an abandoned blue motorcycle near the tracks. They confirmed that the accident is not linked to the bike, which had been parked at the spot since Saturday, and efforts were underway to trace its owner.
“These are two separate and unrelated incidents. No mishap concerning the motorcycle has been reported,” the officer clarified.
