DTC orders removal of Kejriwal’s posters from buses
The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on Monday issued an urgent directive to all depot managers, ordering the immediate removal of political posters from its buses and depot premises.
In an official circular, the DTC stated, “It is hereby instructed to all depot managers to remove all political posters from the buses and depot premises of Delhi Transport Corporation with immediate effect.”
The circular further added that depot managers must “follow the directions and submit the compliance of order for the perusal of higher authority”.
As a result of this directive, posters featuring former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who stepped down on September 17, will be removed from DTC buses. These posters currently display images of Kejriwal alongside Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot.
“It’s not that there are many political posters. The instruction from the competent authority is being implemented and whatever posters are there either on the buses or the depots have been removed,” said a senior government officer.
The posters of the CM or ministers are often used in publicity materials in awareness campaigns which is not unusual, he added.
