New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) has raised its passing criteria for promotion to the next year from 50 per cent to 63 per cent in all its undergraduate courses, according to officials. With this, undergraduate students studying in all DU colleges will now have to obtain 63 per cent in first and second semesters combined to be eligible for promotion. However, students representing Delhi University in sports, extra-curricular activities, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), among others, may be exempted from the criteria, subject to approval from their college’s competent authority. pti
Notice to cops on Khalid’s bail plea
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court sought the city police’s stand on Wednesday on the bail plea of former JNU student Umar Khalid in a UAPA case related to the alleged larger conspiracy behind the February 2020 riots here. The Division Bench of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Girish Kathpaliya issued a notice to the Delhi Police on the bail plea and asked it to file its reply. The court listed Khalid’s bail plea for hearing on August 29. TNS
‘Spiderman’ on car’s bonnet
New Delhi: A 20-year-old man, sitting on a Scorpio car’s bonnet and dressed as Spiderman landed in the police net and a fine of Rs 26,000 was imposed on him for dangerous driving and other violations. The police received a complaint on X about a Scorpio seen on Dwarka roads with a person dressed as Spiderman on its bonnet. The person in the costume was identified as Aditya (20), a resident of Najafgarh. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gaurav Singh (19), a resident of Mahavir Enclave.
