This marks a major step toward advancing international scientific research and space technology
The Delhi University (DU) on Friday signed a Statement of Cooperation with Russia’s National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) to establish a Space Mirror Lab, officials said. This marks a major step toward advancing international scientific research and space technology, the university officials added.
The lab, planned under DU’s Faculty of Technology, will focus on innovation in data storage, processing and transmission within the space communication spectrum, opening new academic and research prospects for both the countries.
Expressing enthusiasm over the collaboration, DU Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh said, “It is a matter of great happiness that the two institutions of friendly countries have come forward in joint research.” Terming the initiative as futuristic, he said this is a visionary and ambitious initiative.”
Prof Singh noted that the partnership goes beyond the lab setup and is expected to expand into long-term academic exchange. “As part of this collaboration, the two universities will collaborate through joint research and educational projects that will benefit the two nations,” he said, adding that more collaborative programmes are being discussed.
The statement was signed by HSE University Rector Dr Nikita Anisimova and DU Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta in presence of the Vice Chancellor. Senior representatives from both institutions, including HSE University Vice President Manoj Sharma and Anastasia Sergeeva, were present on the occasion.
