DU to introduce PhD in Hindu studies from 2025-26
The University of Delhi (DU) will start offering a PhD programme in Hindu Studies from the academic year 2025-26.
The governing board of the Centre for Hindu Studies at the university has proposed to start the course, and the matter regarding this will be placed before the Academic Council. The programme is aimed at providing better academic opportunities to students. Candidates, who are eligible and interested in the programme, can apply for admission after reading the guidelines for admission to PhD courses, available on the DU website.
Candidates applying for the programme must have a master’s degree in Hindu Studies with at least 55 per cent marks along with JRF/NET qualification. However, applicants will be required to qualify for the university’s PhD eligibility test.
Centre for Hindu Studies Joint Director Prerna Malhotra said, “Students have been approaching the Centre, enquiring about research opportunities, especially those who have already qualified for JRF and NET in Hindu Studies.” The initial admission to the programme will be held for 10 seats only and will subsequently increase based on the requirements.
