Delhi University (DU) has announced a decision to promote all postgraduate (PG) students of the 2024-25 batch to their second year, irrespective of whether they have cleared or appeared for their first year examinations.
The move is part of the university’s transition to the Post Graduate Curriculum Framework-2025 (PGCF-2025), which has been developed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP).
Currently, the 2024-25 PG cohort is studying under two older systems, the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and the Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework (LOCF). With DU shifting to PGCF-2025 from the next academic cycle, officials said the existing frameworks no longer matched the structure of the new system.
Without intervention, this would have caused “academic discontinuity” for thousands of students.
The decision will benefit an estimated 11,000 students across more than 80 postgraduate programmes. All students will now be allowed to join Semester III as regular learners.
