As many as 942 single girl children and 136 orphans secured admissions this year, according to DU admission data.

The orphans will be exempted from paying any fee in what marks a new welfare step sought to support students.

A total of 31,046 candidates have finalised their admissions by freezing their allotted seats, while 36,663 students have opted for upgrade option in the next round.

The upgrade window will be opened on August 2 and 3, and mid-entry admissions are scheduled for August 8 to 10. Most of the top colleges in DU are already nearing full capacity.

For students applying under the sports quota, trials began on July 31 and will continue until August 4 across designated campuses.

Speaking to The Tribune, several first-year students shared their excitement about this new chapter in life.

“I’m very excited as it’s my first day. I made new friends and met people from different states. Ramjas has a huge campus. Today was one of the best days of my life,” said Sahil, a first-year Physics (Hons) student at Ramjas College.

Mahi, a first-year History (Hons.) student at St Stephen’s College, said: “The staff is helpful. We all introduced ourselves in class and made new friends. Delhi is a very fast-paced city. It will take some time to adjust here, but I’m sure I will. I’m loving this city.”

Aditya, a first-year BSc Physics (Hons.) student at Hindu College, said: “The campus is huge, everyone interacted very nicely. Seniors are also very friendly and helpful. I think I will enjoy my college life at DU.”

As DU reawakens with student activity, the campus is once again alive with the spirit of learning, exploration and youth-driven dreams.

Mid-entry admissions in first week of Aug

Delhi University (DU) is set to open mid-entry admissions in the first week of August, offering a second chance to students who missed earlier admission phases due to various reasons such as subject mapping errors, payment failures, failure to submit preferences or application rejections.

Students who wish to avail the opportunity will have to pay an additional fee of Rs 1,000 for filling the mid-entry form. This option will be available after the release of the second common seat allocation system (CSAS) list, and only vacant seats in colleges will be open for application.
