New Delhi: A new facility centre for the ex-servicemen contributory health scheme (ECHS) was opened by Indian Army Adjutant General Lt Gen C Bansi Ponappa here on Wednesday. The primary purpose of the facility centre, located on the premises of ECHS Bhavan at Thimayya Marg, Delhi Cantt, is to offer veterans and their dependents efficient and effective support and attend to their medical-related issues in real time. The facility centre has a help desk to assist beneficiaries who have document-related queries such as update on claims, card status and card-related data. A call centre will help the ECHS beneficiaries resolve their issues and grievances on telephone from across the country. TNS

Man killed as wall collapses

New Delhi: A wall of a building collapsed on Wednesday which left one person dead and two injured. Police said around 5 pm, it came to the fore that a building collapsed on the Gurdwara road, KM Puri. According to information, it was found that during pulling down, a wall on the first floor of a house collapsed wherein Vinay (32) died on the spot. TNS

Fire breaks out in apartment

New Delhi: A fire broke out in a residential apartment in Dwarka, Sector 10, on Wednesday morning. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. During the incident, two women had jumped from the balcony for their safety, while one was rescued by the fire tenders. The third woman sustained severe injuries and is in a critical condition. A gas leak is said to be the reason for the fire.
