A 70-year-old man and his wife were found dead at their residence in northwest Delhi's Pitampura area on Tuesday morning, a police officer said.

The deceased were identified as Mohinder Singh and his wife Daljeet Kaur, who lived in a residential building in Pitampura's Kohat Enclave.

Sharing details, the officer said they received a PCR call about the matter, following which a team from Subhash Place police station rushed to the spot. "Two decomposed bodies of a man and a woman were found lying in two separate rooms of a flat," the officer said. The ligature marks indicate that they were strangulated to death.

The officer said an attendant also lived with the couple who is missing after the incident. "The attendant is missing and it seems that an attempt was also made to break the locker," he added.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that Singh was last seen alive two days back around 8 pm. Prime facie it seems that the couple was murdered on Sunday night, however, the exact time of their death will only be ascertained after the autopsy report.

The forensic teams of the Delhi Police and FSL, Rohini, have examined the scene of crime and lifted all crucial exhibits from the spot. The police have registered an FIR into the matter and are tracing the prime suspect — the domestic help who is currently absconding.
