Elderly couple robbed of car, Rs 40,000 cash, jewellery in Faridabad’s VIP area

In a broad daylight robbery, two masked miscreants robbed an elderly couple in the posh area of Sector 15 A, Faridabad, on Thursday afternoon.

The miscreants first knocked on the gate and asked for water. As soon as the elderly man went inside, they followed him in and held him and his wife hostage by showing an axe. The robbers searched the entire house for 10 minutes and fled away with a car, some jewelry and Rs 40,000 cash.

After the miscreants left, the elderly couple somehow freed themselves from the bondage and informed the police. A police team reached the spot, and an FIR was registered at the Faridabad Central police station.

“Considering the seriousness of the matter, Crime Branch, Sector 30, AVTS and central team have been deployed. The miscreants will be behind the bars soon,” said Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta.

The victim, Raghunandan Gandhi (80), and his wife, Vijaya Gandhi, (75) live alone.

“They pushed me and my wife and we fell down. They threatened us to keep quiet and tied our hands and feet. The, they asked about the cash and jewellery, following which, they searched the house for more than 10 minutes and found Rs 40,000 in cash, some jewellery and car keys in the cupboard and fled with the car, cash and jewellery. Somehow, we freed ourselves and informed our son and the police about the incident,” as Gandhi said in his

complaint.
