Ex-firm drivers took part in Gulabi Bagh dacoity; 6 held

The Delhi Police arrested six persons in an armed dacoity involving the looting of more than Rs 3.5 crore from a transport company office in Gulabi Bagh, officials said on Thursday.
The police recovered Rs 1.15 crore, along with two vehicles used in the commission of crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, North District, Manoj Kumar Meena said, “The information of the cash kept in the office was passed by one of the drivers to another driver, who had left the job some days back. This information was further shared by Upender, an ex-driver of the company, to Ankush and Pramod. They conspired with Tanzim and Dev to execute the heist,” Police analysed the CCTV footage from over 200 cameras, where they identified the vehicle used in the offense. The police team then traced the routes taken by the accused leading to crucial details about their identities and movements.
The suspects fled to various states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand sharing the loot amongst them and went into hiding. The police team identified and arrested Pramod, 33, a resident of Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi along with his associates.
“During interrogation, Pramod revealed that he, along with Ankush, Tanzim, Dev, Ranjan, Faizal, and Shanu carried out the heist based on information provided by Upender and Kailash, employees of the transport company,” the DCP added.
Further raids in multiple states led to the apprehension of several key suspects, including Ankush, Kailash, Upender, Shanu and Faizal.
On the night of July 11, a group of seven-eight armed individuals with their faces covered forcibly entered the office of Bikaner Assam Roadlines India in the Kishanganj area. The assailants wielding guns and knives overpowered the office staff, seized the keys to the safe and made off with Rs 30 lakh.
