Exchange of fire in Delhi’s Sanjay Van: 2 wanted criminals nabbed

In a dramatic early-morning encounter, the South-West District Police arrested two wanted criminals following an exchange of fire near Aruna Asaf Ali Road, Sanjay Van, Kishangarh, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident took place around 6:15 a.m. Acting on a tip-off, the team tried to intercept two suspected criminals. On being challenged, the duo opened fire at the police party while attempting to flee.
The police retaliated in self-defense, during which one accused, Arman (26), a resident of JJ Colony, Bawana, sustained a gunshot wound in his right leg.
He was immediately rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.
The second accused, Basheer (24), also from JJ Colony, Bawana, was caught on the spot with an illegal firearm and a live cartridge. In the crossfire, one of Arman’s bullets struck the bulletproof jacket of a police officer, but no injuries were reported.
The Crime Team and FSL were called in to examine the site and collect forensic evidence. Preliminary investigation revealed that Arman has an extensive criminal record, with over 50 cases of robbery, snatching, and violations of the Arms Act registered against him. Both accused are now in custody, and further investigation is underway.
