Fake healthcare centre busted, 2 held

A joint team of the CM flying squad and the Health Department has busted an illegal healthcare centre operating without proper authorisation in Sector 42. The centre’s clinical manager and receptionist were arrested while the centre operator, a woman named Pranita Singa, was not present during the raid.

An FIR has been registered against all three at the Sushant Lok police station.

During the raid, a 45-year-old mental health patient was found admitted in the centre. The raiding team informed the patient’s family and safely handed him over to them. The centre was also sealed by the raiding team.

The complainant, Dr Keshav Sharma, Deputy Civil Surgeon, District Health Department, on Thursday, the team received a tip-off from the CM flying squad about the illegal operation of a healthcare centre in house number 401 in Sector 42.

The team, along with the police, conducted a raid at the house and found that ‘Marlin healthcare centre’ was being run without any permissions.

Dr Sharma alleged: “During the raid, a patient named Sandeep Singh Sethi from Sushant Lok was found bedridden in room no. 403 on the fourth floor and a clinical manager was sitting on a chair outside the room. Sethi claimed that he was brought to the centre against his will in an ambulance. When asked about documents regarding patient’s admission and centre’s operation, they could not produce any.

The investigation revealed that Pranita Singha was running the illegal center and had taken the accommodation on rent for the last one month. The patient’s family members were also misled and fraudulently admitted at the centre.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against the centre operator, clinical manager Saksham and receptionist Shiv Shankar under relevant sections of the BNS and MHCA Act at Sushant Lok police station on Thursday.Both Saksham and Shiv Shankar were arrested, while Singha remains at large. — OC
