Faridabad man held for shooting at mother-in-law over marital dispute
The Faridabad police have arrested a man for allegedly shooting at his mother-in-law in the Nangla Enclave area, following a dispute with his wife. The victim’s condition is said to be stable. An FIR was registered at the Saran police station.
According to the complaint filed by the victim, Rita Giri, who lives in Nangla Enclave, her daughter Priyanka was married to Ramveer in 2009. “Ever since the marriage, Ramveer used to harass my daughter and beat her up,” she stated. Due to the abuse, Priyanka left her husband and started living with her mother. She also filed a case against Ramveer seeking maintenance.
“Ramveer was threatening us for the past several days to withdraw the case. Late Friday night, he broke into my house and entered inside. After this, he shot me in the stomach and fled from the spot. My family rushed me to the hospital and informed the police,” Rita said in her complaint.
Based on her statement, the police registered a case at Saran police station and arrested Ramveer within 24 hours of the incident.
“The arrested accused revealed that he had a love marriage with Priyanka. Because of her mother, Priyanka used to quarrel with him every day, which eventually led her to leave him. We are also investigating how the accused obtained the firearm,” said a Faridabad police spokesperson.
