Father, son arrested for assaulting SHO
A Station House Officer (SHO) and two constables faced the ire of a motorcyclist and his father in the Jamia Nagar area, resulting in injuries to the officials, police said on Monday.
An officer said the scuffle occurred on Saturday around 8.45 pm after SHO Narpal Singh and his team stopped a bike near Batla House due to the noise emanating from it. The officer noted that the bike created a loud noise as it travelled towards the Zakir Nagar market.
The police alleged that Asif punched SHO Narpal Singh near the eye while Asif’s father Riyazuddin held him from behind. Both father and son were later arrested. A video circulating on social media showed the SHO asking the biker, identified as 24-year-old Asif, to rev his engine that led to a heated exchange.
The situation escalated when Riyazuddin arrived on the scene after the son called him up and both entered into a scuffle with the officers.
