According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the blaze was reported around 5:15 pm. Ten fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site. The in-house AIIMS fire response team also rushed to the spot.

Officials said the smoke originated from a short circuit in the indoor unit of an air-conditioner installed in a laboratory on the service floor. The situation was brought under control and no major evacuation was required, a Delhi Fire Services officer confirmed.
