Fire Dept gears up to tackle emergencies

To deploy extra fire tenders, QRVs in city on Oct 19, 20

In ensure swift response in case of any emergency during the Diwali celebrations, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) will deployed fire tenders and quick reaction vehicles (QRVs) across the city on October 19 and 20.

According to a circular issue by the DFS, 17 water tenders will be deployed at key places such as Lajpat Nagar central market, Lahori Gate, Gandhi Nagar market, Tilak Nagar South extension and Azadpur among other locations from 5 pm till midnight on October 19 and 20.

The Fire Department will deploy 24 quick reaction vehicles at Mehrauli, Lajpat Nagar central market, Sonia Vihar, Main bazaar Paharganj, Khari bawli, Sadar Bazar and Pul Bangash Azad Market.

“All officers/officials concerned are directed to ensure that the deployed vehicles, along with crew, are in position by 5 pm sharp,” the order said, stressing punctuality and operational readiness. It further instructed divisional and station officers to “ensure proper supervision and liaison with local police for smooth movement and operation” of vehicles during the deployment.

Last year, the city saw a surge of 53 per cent in fire-related calls on Diwali. However, no major causalities were reported in such incidents. Last year, the department received 320 fire-related calls on October 31 and 400 calls on November 1.
