An IndiGo flight 6E 2107 operating from Delhi to Dimapur was forced to return to the bay on Sunday after a minor fire broke out on board, reportedly caused by a passenger’s personal electronic device stored in the seat-back pocket.

Sources identified the device as a power bank. The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew were safe, and there were no injuries reported.

The spokesperson added that relevant authorities were immediately informed as per protocol and after thorough checks, the aircraft was cleared for further operations. Passengers were offered refreshments and the airline thanked them for remaining calm. “The safety of our customers, crew, and aircraft remains our utmost priority,” the statement said.

The incident follows a similar event a day earlier, when a lithium battery in a passenger’s carry-on luggage ignited on a Chinese flight, forcing an unscheduled landing at Shanghai International Airport.
