A drone crashed on a house in G Block of South City 2 here while attempting to deliver food on Thursday evening, causing damage to the dish antenna installed on the roof before falling to the ground. An FIR was lodged against Skye Air Elevating Delivery under Sections 188, 287 and 336 of the IPC at the Sector 50 police station.
The incident occurred around 5 pm when the drone collided with the roof of a house belonging to Palmi Banerjee. Following the impact with the dish antenna, the drone fell on the ground, creating panic in the neighbourhood.
Satish Yadav, president of the G Block Resident Welfare Association of South City 2, said over 500 families reside in the society. The drone, owned by Skye Air Mobility, initially landed on the roof of a house. The drone was being used to deliver chicken to Unitech Fresco Society, a 21-storey building adjacent to South City-2.
A society resident recounted that a 30-kg drone, flying at considerable height, lost balance and descended towards the ground. After striking the dish antenna, it crashed onto the ground with a loud noise, creating a crater upon impact.
District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav had imposed Section 144 on February 14, prohibiting the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones, etc.) in Gurugram district on February 15 and 16.
