The Faridabad police arrested four persons on charge of extortion bid. The accused had demanded Rs 5 lakh extortion money from a Ballabgarh resident on July 27.
All four accused were produced in a court on Wednesday, which sent them to four-day police remand for further questioning. The police also recovered a car from their possession.
In his complaint to the police, Mayank, a resident of Arya Nagar, Ballabhgarh, stated that he reached the house in his car on the night of July 27. After parking his four-wheeler, he went inside the house.
“Soon after, I heard the sound of a gunshot. When I came outside, I saw that a bullet hit the window on the driver’s side. Shortly, Devendra, alias Kalu, a resident of my colony, sent a message on my brother’s WhatsApp demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakh. He even threatened to kill me if the money was not paid,” Mayank said in his complaint.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the City Ballabgarh police station. During investigation, a team of the Sector 30 crime unit arrested four persons on Tuesday night. The accused have been identified as Devendra, alias Kalu (36), Monu (23), Bunty (28) and Uday (20), residents of Tirkha colony, Ballabhgarh.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that all four accused went outside the complainant’s house in a four-wheeler and fired at the window on the driver’s side of his car on the night of July 27. Bunty had fired the shot and Devendra had provided the weapon. After the incident, the accused fled the spot there in their car. Devendra, alias Kalu, has a criminal record. He was released from the jail in February this year. Criminal records of other accused are being investigated,” said a spokesperson for the Faridabad police.
